Who We Support

Hamco Allied Health supports children, adolescents, and young adults with diverse ways of thinking, learning, sensing, and engaging with the world.
We work alongside individuals who experience differences or challenges related to neurodevelopment, mental health, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and everyday participation, recognising that these experiences exist within the context of each person's environment, relationships, and life demands.
Services are available to individuals with formal diagnoses, those awaiting assessment, and those without a diagnosis who would benefit from occupational therapy support.
Hamco Allied Health recognises that diagnoses do not define people. Our work focuses on understanding each individual's strengths, needs, preferences, and environments, with the aim of supporting meaningful participation, autonomy, and wellbeing across daily life.

Our approach is client-centred and neuroaffirming

Our approach is grounded in the understanding that:
Differences are not deficits
Regulation, participation, and wellbeing are shaped by environments and supports
Therapy should adapt to the person — not the other way around
We work collaboratively with individuals, families, schools, and support networks to create strategies and supports that are respectful, practical, and aligned with each person’s goals and identity.

Common presentations we support

The following descriptions are provided to help families and referrers understand our areas of experience. Support is always individualised and not diagnosis-led.

Autism

Supporting autistic individuals to engage in daily life in ways that feel safe, meaningful, and sustainable. This may include support with sensory regulation, routines, communication, participation, and independence across home, school, and community settings.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Supporting individuals with ADHD to develop strategies that align with their strengths, including support with organisation, executive functioning, emotional regulation, attention, and participation in everyday activities.

Sensory Processing Differences

Ayres Sensory Integration®-informed occupational therapy to support individuals who experience differences in sensory processing and regulation, with a focus on understanding sensory needs and supporting participation across daily environments.

Anxiety & Mental Health

Mental health endorsed occupational therapy to support individuals experiencing anxiety and other mental health challenges, focusing on regulation, coping strategies, routines, and functional participation in everyday life.

Developmental Trauma

Trauma-informed Occupational Therapy supporting individuals with developmental trauma experiences. Intervention prioritises safety, regulation, predictability, and participation, recognising the impact of early experiences on nervous system regulation and daily functioning.

Intellectual Disability

Supporting individuals with intellectual disability to build skills, confidence, and independence in ways that are meaningful to them, with a focus on participation across home, school, work, and community contexts.

Other Neurodevelopmental and Functional Differences

We also support individuals who experience a range of functional challenges impacting daily life, including those without formal diagnoses. Our focus remains on understanding the individual, their environment, and their goals — rather than working from labels alone.
